4.3.3.2 Search engine algorithm
Every search engine uses an algorithm to rank the results. But of course, they conceal it to avoid manipulations. There are often changes of the ranking factors as well. With studies and observations it is possible to detect the way Google assesses web pages. Nowadays there is a whole industry, the SEO industry, which only tries to find out how the Google algorithm works. Below there are the most important factors which Google assess. Professionals estimate that there are more than 150 factors influencing the ranking. But with every algorithm update the evaluation of each one could change (Fischer, 2009, p.158; Sistrix, 2010).
