4.5 Web Controlling
4.5.1 Definition
Controlling is often seen as a part of accountancy, but it is much more. The objective is a success-orientated enterprise management which is divided into different parts. For online marketing the discipline of web controlling has been established which is part of the operative controlling. SEO and online marketing are often long term campaigns, but they have to be supervised in small elements. For the principle of a permanent optimisation much information is needed which delivers the web controlling. This information contains user data, website data, tracking data and external data from competitors. Every single part has to be optimised. The following chapter is about method and tools to measure success of an online marketing campaign (Bishopinck and Ceyp, 2008, p.261-263).
